I for ichthyosaur

I is for... ichthyosaur!

Ichthyosaurs are extinct marine reptiles. They lived in the seas at the same time that dinosaurs roamed the land.

Fact:

Mary Anning was a famous fossil collector. She lived in Lyme Regis in Dorset and discovered many skeletons of ichthyosaurs and other marine reptiles.

Do you know the tongue twister that was written about her?

She sells sea shells by the sea shore.

Mary Anning spent a lot of time on the beach, and was very successful selling her finds to museums around the country, so it makes sense that this rhyme was written about her.

Now try saying the tongue twister quickly three times in a row!
