Species: World - 75 000, UK - 54
All Neuroptera have four wings marked by a netlike pattern of veins - their name means 'net-wing' or 'nerve wing'.
You may have heard of the larval lacewings called antlions. They sit at the bottom of a cone-shaped pit that they have dug into the ground, trapping and eating any smaller insects that happen to fall inside.
